We started with a simple belief: every young person deserves to feel supported, understood and valued, especially when they need it most.
Chris and Jane began their careers as Youth Workers in residential care, working directly alongside young people with complex experiences, big emotions and incredible potential. It was through this frontline experience that we developed a deep understanding of the importance of relationships, consistency, connection and genuine care.
As our careers progressed, so did our understanding of the residential care environment. We worked our way into leadership, management and broader areas of residential care, gaining experience not only in supporting young people directly, but also in supporting the teams and systems around them.
This progression gave us a unique perspective. We came to understand residential care from multiple angles—as Youth Workers, leaders, managers and advocates for young people. We saw the challenges faced by young people, but also the challenges faced by the people supporting them.
We experienced the reality of working in an environment where decisions often need to be made quickly, situations can change in a moment, and staff can sometimes be left feeling uncertain about what to do next. We also saw the incredible difference that skilled, supported and confident workers can make in a young person’s life.
Throughout our careers, we identified a gap in the support available outside of standard business hours. When things became difficult after hours, workers and teams could find themselves without access to experienced guidance or practical, hands-on support when they needed it most.
We knew there had to be a better way.
We wanted to take everything we had learned—from the frontline, through leadership and management, and from working alongside young people, families, carers and professionals—and use that experience to make a greater impact where it matters most.
Our purpose is to provide accessible, practical, compassionate and hands-on support. We don’t believe in simply offering advice from the sidelines. We show up. We work alongside young people and their teams, in their homes and in the community, supporting challenging situations face-to-face and helping create meaningful change in the moment.
Our approach is grounded in the belief that young people are more than their behaviours, their trauma or their circumstances. We see the person first. We look for strengths, build on connection and seek to understand what sits beneath the behaviour.
We also believe that supporting young people means supporting the people around them. When workers feel supported, understood and equipped with the right knowledge, they are better positioned to create safe, therapeutic and meaningful environments for young people.
Our goal isn’t simply to provide another service. It’s to be the support we wished had been available when we were on the frontline—experienced, practical, responsive, hands-on and genuinely invested in making a difference.
Because sometimes, having the right person there, at the right moment, can change everything.
